Bella Collina Bed & Breakfast

Our Story

When Melody found the property that is now our Bella Collina ("beautiful hill") in 2006, she called Scott and insisted that he come to see the view. Once he saw it, he agreed we had to buy it. Clearing the logged-off land that had grown up to a dense barrier of brush and vines was a massive task, but in the end, there was a beautiful meadow, a wide lawn, and a lovely pond. We got it finished just in time for our son's wedding.

Fueled by a passion for this incredible view, we developed a vision for a boutique inn. Using our experiences traveling the world, we strove for a level of service that is reflective of the ideal luxury stay that we all relish. It was a long journey with its ups and downs, but we are happy to share our home (yes, we live here) with a passion to help guests feel an authentic connection to Oregon and the uniqueness of the Eola-Amity Hills.

Scott is a practicing gastroenterologist whose pastimes include landscape photography and writing (he's written two novels and one non-fiction book). Melody worked 15 years as a physical therapist, starting a home health agency and a skilled nursing rehab program. After managing multiple non-medical businesses for years, she was ready for a new business venture and the plan for Bella Collina was started. Her passions also include photography, travel, and planning family gatherings.

Sherwood’s Story

I was born and raised in Michigan. For many years, I worked for my father and Grandma Joyce at the family convenience store. I started a new venture in 1997 by becoming the innkeeper for the Williams House Bed and Breakfast in Amelia Island, Florida. After several years of innkeeping, I joined a group of friends in opening three restaurants. All of these succeeded, but I discovered that restaurants were not my passion. After five years, it was time to return to innkeeping.

Sherwood in a blue tuxedoFrom the heat and humidity of Florida, I felt a calling to the Pacific Northwest Coast. I accepted a position in the charming town of Yachats, where I ran the Seaquest Inn Bed and Breakfast for about four years. I loved the coast, but the remoteness left me yearning for an opportunity closer to a populated area.

Enter Scott and Melody. They found me on the coast and asked me if I would be interested in running their new Inn and I said yes, please!

Things to know about me:

  • I will be your chef while you are at Bella (along with our assistant Innkeeper and business/marketing manager Savannah).
  • Favorite food white wine, rose' pizza, chicken, and ice cream.
  • I collect socks and penguins.

I'm looking forward to meeting each of you and sharing our beautiful inn. Mostly, I can't wait to WELCOME YOU HOME!

Much love, Sherwood
